Our Story

The Little Log House gets its name from Roy and Lucy Rindt's charming and rustic log cabin in Sumas Prairie. It's a spin on the famous novels, Little House on the Prairie, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The log house was built in 1988 and has been a home to a couple families over the years. The house is surrounded by acres of green grass from Roy's turf farm, Western Turf Farms. Long before Roy and Lucy lived at the Log House, they began dating in 2015 after meeting at Lucy's Dad's 50th birthday party. They got engaged in 2019, got their baby (standard poodle, Bo) in 2021 and later had a Christmas wedding/elopement in 2021. Roy has been working on the turf farm for his entire life. He has done it all, from mowing, harvesting, shop work, and delivering turf! In his spare time, not that he gets much of it, he likes to work on old trucks and spend time with his wife and puppy. When Lucy finished high school, she immediately went to University to study Education and English Literature. Her dream of becoming a teacher was achieved! Lucy has been a secondary school teacher since the year, 2020. Lucy has always been very creative since she was a little girl, where her love for flowers and nature was evident. She used to love to pick flowers from her Grandmas garden where she would make flower crowns and endless bouquets. Lucy believes that becoming a florist was her true calling as she was always drawn to the floral craft and design process. She took the steps to become a certified florist in 2024 when her flower farming and florist journey really took off. In Lucy's spare time, she enjoys playing her violin, gardening, baking and hanging out with her husband and little pup, Bo.
Roy and Lucy began living in the log house in 2018 and have both put in a lot of work renovating and upgrading their home, while still holding onto the rustic log cabin charm. In 2021, the unimaginable happened, the log house flooded, and Roy, Lucy and their farm pup, Bo did not have a "home" for over two years. They have been working hard to fix up and design, not only the house, but the land around it. It. The projects are never ending, but that's okay with them! They are very honoured to reside in such a charming home that holds many memories and stories. Lucy and Roy are young entrepreneurs who have a vision to create a beautiful homestead with a gorgeous flower garden that offers various services, workshops, farmstand and much more. Here is to creating many more exciting memories on the farm for years to come!
